I am a NYS licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-R) . I received a B.A. in Sociology at Oswego State University (1978) and an MSW at Syracuse University (1980).
I retired my NYS credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counselor (CASAC- Retired) in 2018, after however I continue to provide services for individuals managing substance use disorders.
I have over 35 years of professional experience in management and delivery of person-centered, recovery orientated, and trauma informed behavioral health care services: mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders, including work with both youth and adults. I also have extensive experience with special populations and services including: domestic violence services, the courts, the criminal justice system and crime victim services, as well as other health promotion and prevention orientated services.

There I direct the Safe Journey domestic violence survivor counseling program. At Stand Up Guys, a group I co-founded in 2004, I work to create primary prevention strategies focused on engaging men in ending violence against women (domestic violence and sexual assault).
I also serve as an advisory committee member and core instructor for the NYS Victim Assistance Academy and have served on numerous boards and committees, most notably as a former member of the Attorney General’s Crime Victim’s Advisory Board.
My professional areas of interest focus on the intersection of the criminal justice system, victim services, offender accountability, substance abuse, mental health and co-occurring disorders, as well as gender-based violence.
I am also a PADI certified Dive Master.
